SSC Selection Post - Graduation Level 2019 - 15 Oct 2019 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q55

If x : y : z = 2 : 3 : 4, what is the value of (x2+2y2+z23x2−2y2+4z2)\left (\frac{x^2+2y^2+z^2}{3x^2-2y^2+4z^2} \right )?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 1929\frac{19}{29}.

Let x = 2, y = 3, z = 4

Now, (x2+2y2+z23x2−2y2+4z2)\left (\frac{x^2+2y^2+z^2}{3x^2-2y^2+4z^2} \right )

= [4 + 2(9) + 16]/[3(4) - 2(9) + 4(16)]

= (4 + 18 + 16)/(12 - 18 + 64)

= 38/58

= 19/29
