If x+12x=3x+\frac{1}{2x}={3}, find the value of 8x3+1x38x^3+\frac{1}{x^3}.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 180.

x+12x=3x+\frac{1}{2x}={3}

⇒ 2x+1x=62x+\frac{1}{x}={6}

Cube both sides

⇒ (2x+1x)3=63(2x+\frac{1}{x})^3={6}^3

⇒ (2x)3+(1x)3+3×(2x)(1x)(2x×1x)=216{(2x)^3+(\frac{1}{x})^3+3\times(2x)({1\over x})(2x\times{1\over x})}=216

⇒ 8x3+1x3+6×6=2168x^3+\frac{1}{x^3}+6\times6=216

⇒ 8x3+1x3=216−368x^3+\frac{1}{x^3}=216-36

⇒ 8x3+1x3=1808x^3+\frac{1}{x^3}=180
