We know that,

Area of square = side²

Let the side lengths of the two squares be a and b

⇒ ${a^2 \over b^2} = {4 \over9}$

⇒ ${a \over b} = \sqrt{4 \over9}$

⇒ ${a \over b} = {2 \over3}$

Hence, the ratio of the corresponding sides of the squares is 2 : 3
