We have given,

tanθ - Cotθ = 4

Square on both sides,

tan²θ + cot²θ - 2tanθ × Cotθ  = 16

⇒ tan²θ + cot²θ - 2tanθ × 1/tanθ  = 16

⇒ tan²θ + cot²θ = 16 + 2

⇒ tan²θ + cot²θ = 18

So, the value of tan²θ + cot²θ = 18
