If sin A + cos A = 1, then find the value of sin4 A + cos4 A

sin A + cos A = 1

Square both sides:

sin2A + cos2A + 2sinAcosA = 1

⇒ 1 + 2sinAcosA = 1

⇒ sinAcosA = 0

Now,

sin4A + cos4A

⇒ (sin2A + cos2A)2 − 2sin2Acos2A

⇒ 1 − 2(0) = 1
