If p : q = 6 : 5, then what is the value of ( 6p + 5q ) : ( 6p - 5q )?

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 61 : 11.

⇒  p : q = 6 : 5

⇒pq=65\frac{p}{q} = \frac{6}{5}

⇒ p=65q p = \frac{6}{5} q

 

⇒ 6p + 5q = 6(65q)+5q=365q+5q=365q+255q=615q6\left(\frac{6}{5}q\right) + 5q = \frac{36}{5}q + 5q = \frac{36}{5}q + \frac{25}{5}q = \frac{61}{5}q

⇒6p - 5q = 6(65q)−5q=365q−5q=365q−255q=115q6\left(\frac{6}{5}q\right) - 5q = \frac{36}{5}q - 5q = \frac{36}{5}q - \frac{25}{5}q = \frac{11}{5}q
