SSC GD Constable (English) - 2 Feb 2023 - Shift 1 • Reasoning • Q72

If ‘−‘ means ‘division’, ‘+’ means ‘multiplication’, ‘×’ means ‘addition’, and ‘÷’ means ‘subtraction’, which of the following equations is correct?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 20 − 4 + 6 ÷ 9 × 4 = 25.

Given directions: ‘−‘ means ‘division’, ‘+’ means ‘multiplication’, ‘×’ means ‘addition’, and ‘÷’ means ‘subtraction’

Option 1: 20 − 4 + 6 ÷ 9 × 4 = 25

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 20 ÷ 4 × 6 - 9 + 4 = 25

= 5 × 6 - 9 + 4

= 30 - 9 + 4

= 25 = 25

As we have found our answer, there is no need to check further options.

Hence, 20 − 4 + 6 ÷ 9 × 4 = 25 is the correct answer.
