If M: N=9: 6, then what is the value of (M+N) : (M-N)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 5 : 1.

Given that

M : N = 9 : 6

Let M = 9x and N = 6x

⇒ M + N = 15x

⇒ M - N = 3x

The required ratio is = M+NM−N\frac{M + N}{M - N} = 15x3x\frac{15x}{3x}

⇒ M+NM−N\frac{M + N}{M - N} = 51\frac{5}{1}

Hence, the value of (M + N) : (M - N) = 5 :1
