If F1 and F2 are the fourth proportional to 27,712{2 \over 7}, {7 \over 12}, 8 and 56,43,10{5 \over 6}, {4 \over 3},10, respectively, then what is F1 : F2?

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 49 : 48.

 

Fourth proportional formula: a : b = c : d ⇒ d = (b × c) / a

F1 = (7/12 × 8) / (2/7) = (56/12) × (7/2) = (56/12) × (7/2) = 196/12 = 49/3

F2 = (4/3 × 10) / (5/6) = (40/3) × (6/5) = (40/3) × (6/5) = 16

F1 : F2 = (49/3) : 16 = 49 : 48
