Concept used:

In a triangle ABC,

Cos A = base/hypotenuse

where, Cot A = base/perpendicular

Calculation:

Base = 9 and hypotenuse = 41

Using pythagoras theorem,

Perpendicular² = Hypotenuse² - base²

⇒ 41² - 9² = perpendicular²

⇒ perpendicular² = 1600

⇒ perpendicular = 40

Hence, cot A = 9/40
