If a4 + 1a4\frac{1}{a^4} = 194, then what is the value of a6+1a3\frac{a^6 + 1}{a^3}?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 52.

a4 + 1/a4 = 194

a2 + 1/a2 = √(194 + 2) = √196 = 14

a + 1/a = √(14 + 2) = √16 = 4

a3 + 1/a3 = (a + 1/a)3 − 3(a + 1/a) = 43 − 3×4 = 64 − 12 = 52
