If a3 + b3 = 5824 and a + b = 28, then (a - b)2 + ab = ?

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 208

COncept Application

(a3 + b3) = (a + b) (a2 - ab + b2) 

And

(a2 - ab + b2) = (a - b)2 + ab

Now,

(a2 - ab + b2) = (a3 + b3)/(a + b)

= 5824/28

= 208

Hence,

(a - b)2 + ab = 208
