SSC Selection Post - Matriculation Level - 28 June 2023 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q73

If a shopkeeper sold one-third of his goods at a loss of 20%, then at what gain percentage should the remainder be sold to gain 25% on the whole transaction?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 47.5%.

Let total goods = 3 units and CP per unit = 100

Total CP = 3 × 100 = 300

SP of 1 unit = 80

Total SP = 300 × (125/100) = 375

Amount to be recovered = 375 - 80 = 295

SP per unit = 295/2 = 147.5

Gain per unit = 147.5 - 100 = 47.5%
