If a right circular cone of height 24 cm has a volume of 1232 cm3, then the total surface area of the cone is (use π = 22722\over7):

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 704 cm2.

Volume of cone =13πr2h{1 \over 3} \pi r^2 h

⇒ 1232 = 13×227×r2×24{1 \over 3} \times {22 \over 7} \times r^2 \times 24

⇒ r2 = 7 × 7

⇒ r = 7 cm

Now, l2 = r2 + h2

⇒ l2 = 72 + 242 = 49 + 576 = 625

⇒ l = 25 cm

TSA of cone = πr(l+r)\pi r (l + r)

= 227×7(25+7){22 \over 7}\times 7 (25 + 7)

= 22 × 32 = 704
