SSC GD Constable (English) - 26th November 2021 Shift 3 • Reasoning • Q80

If ‘A’ denotes ‘addition’, ‘B’ denotes ‘multiplication’, ‘C’ denotes ‘subtraction’, and ‘D’ denotes ‘division’, then what will be the value of the following expression?

90 D (2 B 5) A 4 B (12 A 10) C 4 B (17 C 10)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 69

Given conditions:

‘A’ means ‘+’

‘B’ means ‘×’

‘C’ means ‘-’

‘D’ means ‘÷’

After interchanging the expression becomes:

= 90 ÷ (2 × 5) + 4 × (12 + 10) - 4 × (17 - 10)

= 90 ÷ 10 + 4 × 22 - 4 × 7

= 9 + 4 × 22 - 4 × 7

= 9 + 88 - 28

= 69

Hence, 69 is the correct answer.
