If (542x3(54\sqrt{2}x^3 + (243y(24\sqrt{3}y3) ÷ (18x+12y=(\sqrt{18}x+ \sqrt{12}y=Ax2 + By2 + Cxy, then what is the value of A2 - (B2+ C2)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e -36.

Here one can see that the numerator part can be further simplified as [(32x)3+(23y)3][(3\sqrt2x)^3 + (2\sqrt3y)^3] and the denominator part can be simplified as [32x+23y][3\sqrt2x + 2\sqrt3y]

As one knows that [a3 + b3 = a2 - ab + b2]

Now one has [(32x)3+(23y)3]32x+23y\frac{[(3\sqrt2x)^3 + (2\sqrt3y)^3]}{3\sqrt2x + 2\sqrt3y}

By using the above identity we get,

 ⇒[32x+23y]×[18x2+12y2−66xy][32x+23y]=Ax2+By2+Cxy\Rightarrow \frac{[3\sqrt2x + 2\sqrt3y] \times [18x^2 + 12y^2 - 6\sqrt6xy]}{[3\sqrt2x + 2\sqrt3y]} = Ax^2 + By^2 + Cxy

⇒18x2+12y2−66xy=Ax2+By2+Cxy\Rightarrow 18x^2 + 12y^2 - 6\sqrt6xy= Ax^2 + By^2 + Cxy

On comparing L.H.S and R.H.S one gets

A = 18 and B = 12 and C = −66-6\sqrt6

Here one has to find the value of A2 - (B2+ C2)

= 182 - ( 122 +( −66-6\sqrt62))

= -36.
