SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 12/09/2019 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q51

If 3(cot²θ - cos²θ) = cos²θ, 0° < θ < 90°, then the value of (tan²θ + cosec²θ + sin²θ) is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 61/12.

3(cot²θ - cos²θ) = cos²θ

3 cot²θ = 4 cos²θ

sin²θ = 3/4

sinθ = √3/2, θ = 60°

(tan²θ + cosec²θ + sin²θ)

= (3 + 4/3 + 3/4)

= 61/12
