Given:

2a + 3b = 10 and ab = 3

Formula used:

(a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab           ---- (1)

Calculations:

Using equation (1), we get

⇒ 10² = 4a² + 9b² + 2 × 18

⇒ 100 - 36 = 4a² + 9b²

⇒ 4a² + 9b² = 64
