SSC CGL 2019 PYQ — Question 36

SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 11/09/2019 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q36

If  (√2 + √5 - √3) × k = -12, then what will be the value of k?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 ie (√2 + √5 + √3)(2 - √10 )

(√2 + √5 - √3) × k = -12

(1.4 + 2.2 - 1.7) × k = -12

k ≃ -6

By option elimination

k = -6 =  (√2 + √5 + √3)(2 - √10 )

or

By rationalisation,

x = (√2 + √5 + √3)(2 - √10 )
