12sin² A + 2cos² A = 7

Dividing throughout by sin²A we get

12 + 2cot²A = 7cosec²A

⇒ 12 +  2cot²A = 7(1 + cot²A)

⇒ 12 + 2cot²A = 7 + 7cot²A

⇒ 5cot²A = 5

⇒ cot²A = 1

⇒ cot A = $\pm1$
