If 12 men or 9 women can do a piece of work in 36 days, then how many days will 16 men and 18 women take to finish the same work?

12 men or 9 women can do a piece of work in 36 days

12m = 9w

m/w = 3/4

Total work = 12m × 36 = 12 × 3 × 36 

So, 16 men and 18 women can finish the same work = 12×3×3616m+18w\frac{12 × 3 × 36}{16m+18w}

=12×3×3616×3+18×4\frac{12 × 3 × 36}{16\times3+18\times4}

= 12×3×36120\frac{12 × 3 × 36}{120}

= 54/5 =  10 45\frac {4} {5}
