If 11 August 1918 is Sunday, then what will be the day of the week on 4 December 1925?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. Friday

From 11 August 1918 to 11 August 1925 is 7 years.

Leap years: 1920 and 1924 (since a leap year occurs every 4 years) = 2

Ordinary year = 5

Total odd days = (5 × 1) + (2 × 2) = 9, 9 ÷ 7 = 2 odd days

Calculate the number of odd days from 11 August 1925 to 4 December 1925:

Total days = 20 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 4 = 115 days.

[August (remaining days after 11th): 31 - 11 = 20 days, September: 30 days, October: 31 days, November: 30 days, December (up to 4th): 4 days]

Now, calculate the odd days in these 115 days: 115 ÷ 7 = 3 odd days

Total odd days = 2 + 3 = 5 odd days.

From 1918 to 1925: 2 odd days

From August 1925 to December 1925: 3 odd days

Since 11 August 1918 was a Sunday, adding 5 odd days will give us: Sunday + 5 days = Friday

Therefore, 4 December 1925 was a Friday.
