Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 160

Given :

Denomination of Rs1, Rs2, Rs5 and Rs10 in ratio 10: 5 : 2 : 1

Total number of coins = 72

Calculations :

Let the number of Rs1, Rs2, Rs5 and Rs10 coins be 10x, 5x, 2x and x.

⇒ 10x + 5x + 2x + x = 72

⇒ 18x = 72

⇒ x = 4

Number of coins of Rs1, Rs2, Rs5 and Rs10 are 40, 20, 8 and 4.

Total money in piggy bank

⇒ (40 × 1) + (20 × 2) + (8 × 5) + (4 × 10)

⇒ 40 + 40 + 40 + 40

⇒ Rs 160
