Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. BCED.

Sentence A sets the scene: "It was midday."

Sentence B introduces the main character, Voldyrev, and describes his actions as he enters the government office.

Sentence C shows Voldyrev asking the porter where he can make an inquiry, moving the narrative forward.

Sentence E has the porter directing Voldyrev to the person near the window, making it clear where Voldyrev should go next.

Sentence D follows naturally as Voldyrev heads toward the window after receiving directions.

Sentence F then describes the person Voldyrev approaches, rounding off the paragraph.

This sequence ensures that each action logically follows the previous one, creating a coherent and smooth-flowing narrative within a single paragraph.
