Given below are four jumbled sentences. Select the option that gives their correct order.

A. He put it down to dry and went to count his coins.

B. When he came back, it seemed like the teapot had moved.

C. Akito walked into an old curiosity shop and bought a teapot and took it home.

D. Later that day, he cleaned the teapot till it shone like the sun.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. CDAB.

  • Statement C is independent and introduces the character of the paragraph "Akito" hence, it will be the opening statement.
  • Statement A and B will come respectively as they contain "went, come back" respectively.
  • Statement D will come before AB as it can not be the concluding statement..
  • Now we have the final arrangement i.e. CDAB.

The chosen option is the same as the final arrangement hence, it will be correct.

Some common rules that help while solving the Para Jumbles:-

  1. Read the paragraph carefully and try to comprehend the idea or theme of the paragraph and eliminate the irrelevant options.
  2. Try to identify the opening (Independent statement) and closing statement (Concluding statement).
  3. Try to identify the mandatory pairs. Two sentences can be connected through various connectors.
  4. If a statement starts with Pronoun, find the noun for which the pronoun is used, both the statements containing noun and pronoun will form a pair respectively.
