Concept/Grammar rules

Application

The first sentence always introduces a topic and is independent in its meaning.

Sentence ‘D’ is clearly the opening sentence, since it introduces the topic of the paragraph i.e. Ann Thompson.

Sentence A tells about the practice of Ann Thompson and about her winning the medal, hence it will be the next sentence.

Part C will follow it which talks about the tragedy that happened.

The concluding sentence is sentence B as it tells what that tragedy was that is the accident.

The Correct paragraph formed will be:-

Ann Thompson was going to make her practice ski run before lunch. Practicing hard, she hoped to win an Olympic medal someday. But, she didn't know it would be her last run ever. As she sped down the slope she had a terrible accident.
