Ghanshyam is thrice as old as Akash. 10 years ago, Ghanshyam was four times as old as Akash. What is the difference between their current ages (in years)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 60.

Let the present age of Akash = x years

So, the present age of Ghanshyam = 3x years

So, (3x - 10)/(x - 10) = 4

⇒ 3x - 10 = 4x - 40

⇒ x = 30

So, 3x - x = 2x = 2 × 30 = 60

Therefore, the difference between their current ages is 60 years.
