SSC CGL 2022 PYQ — Question 62

SSC CGL - 12 April 2022 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q62

From a point P on a level ground, the angle of elevation of the top of a tower is 30°. If the tower is 1103\sqrt{3}m high, what is the distance (im m) of point P from the foot of the tower?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 330

Let the height of the tower be AB. Tri(PAB) be a right-angles triangle with angle(A) = 90°

We have AB = 110 × (3)1/2 and PA = Distance of point P from the base of the tower

So, tan30° = {110 × (3)1/2}/PA

⇒ PA = 110 × (3)1/2 × (3)1/2 = 110 × 3 = 330
