Given that

 ${(187\div17\times\;a-3\times3 \over (8^2-9\times7+a^2)}=1$

⇒ ${(11\times\;a-9)\over (64-63+a^2)}=1$

⇒ ${(11a-9)\over (1+a^2)}=1$

⇒ 11a - 9 = 1 + a²

⇒ Put a = 1

11 - 9 = 1 + 1 

2 = 2 (LHS = RHS)

Hence, the required value of a is 1
