SSC CGL 2019 PYQ — Question 73

SSC CGL - 4th June 2019 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q73

Directions: The line graph given below shows the percentage concentration of two liquids (X and Y) in five mixtures A, B, C, D and E. It also contains a table that gives the concentration of liquid Z (in litres) in all these mixtures. (Note - The mixtures are made up of only these three liquids)

Find the ratio of quantity of liquid Z in mixture A and B combined to the sum of quantities of X in liquid C and Y in liquid D.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 1125 : 518

Z in A and B combined = 81 + 144 = 225 litres

Percentage concentration of Z in mixture C = 100 - (42 + 33) = 25%

25% of Total Volume = 20

Total volume (C) = 80 litres

Concentration of X = 42% of 80 = 33.6 litres

Percentage concentration of Z in mixture D = 100 - (30 + 28) = 42%

42% of Total Volume = 105

Total volume (D) = 250 litres

Concentration of Y = 28% of 250 = 70 litres

Sum = 70 + 33.6 = 103.6

Ratio = 225 : 103.6 = 1125 : 518
