SSC CHSL 2024 PYQ — Question 51

SSC CHSL - 09 July 2024 - Shift 4 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q51

Find the number of paper balls, each 2 cm in diameter, that can be made from a sphere of diameter 18 cm.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 729.

Volume of sphere = 43πr3{4 \over 3} \pi r^3

Given that, diameter of sphere = 18 cm

⇒ Radius of sphere = 18/2 = 9 cm

Diameter of paper ball = 2 cm

⇒ Radius of paper ball = 2/2 = 1 cm

Let the number of paper balls that can be made from the sphere be n.

According to the given question,

Volume of sphere = n × Volume of one paper ball

⇒ 43×227×93=n×43×227×13{{4 \over 3} \times {22 \over 7} \times 9^3} = n \times {{4 \over 3} \times {22 \over 7} \times 1^3}

⇒ n = 729
