During India’s chairship of the BRICS grouping in 2021, the country emphasized cooperation in health, technology, and sustainable development among member states—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. One of the major initiatives was the BRICS Digital Health Summit, which aimed to strengthen collaboration in digital healthcare systems, telemedicine, and health data management, especially in response to challenges highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another important initiative was the BRICS Alliance for Green Tourism, which focused on promoting environmentally sustainable tourism practices.
