Correct Answer is option 2 i.e. 50

Understanding

Application

Eight years ago, ratio of ages of A and B = 9 : 10

Suppose age of A, 8 years ago = 9x

Age of B, 8 years ago = 10x

4 years from now, ages of A and B will be (9x + 12) and (10x + 12)

Given that this ratio is 12 : 13

Hence,

(9x + 12) : (10x + 12) = 12 : 13

⇒ 117x + 156 = 120x + 144

⇒ 3x = 156 – 144 = 12

⇒ x = 4

Hence,

Present age of A = 9 × 4 + 8 = 44 years

Present age of C = 44 + 6 = 50 years
