C alone can complete a work in 50 days and D alone can complete the same work in half of the time taken by C. In how many days will both together complete 3/10 part of the total work ?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 5 days.

Rate of C =  1 / 50  work/day

D's rate of work:

⇒50 / 2 = 25  days

Rate of D = 1 / 25 work/days 

Combined rate = 1 / 50 + 1 / 25

⇒  150+125=150+250=350 work/day\frac{1}{50} + \frac{1}{25} = \frac{1}{50} + \frac{2}{50} = \frac{3}{50} \text{ work/day}

Time = 310350=310×503=5 days\frac{\frac{3}{10}}{\frac{3}{50}} = \frac{3}{10} \times \frac{50}{3} = 5 \text{ days}
