By selling an article for Rs. 8670, a man loses 15%. At what price (in Rs.) should he sell it in order to make a profit of 15%?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 11730

Profit % = (SP−CP)CP×100\frac{(SP - CP)}{CP × 100}

Loss % = (CP−SP)CP×100\frac{(CP - SP)}{CP × 100}

Let Cost Price of the article be a and Selling Price of the article be b.

⇒ 15 = (a - 8670)/a × 100

⇒ a = Rs.10200

Cost Price = Rs.10200

Then,

⇒ 15 = (b - 10200)/10200 × 100

⇒ b = 11730

Selling price  of the article is Rs.11730 when profit % is 15%.
