But Rakesh and Shivam will get money only when they turn 22 years old. Till then the money is in a bank getting interest at rate 10% compounded annually. When both turn 22, they receive the same amount. How much had Baban given Shivam (in ₹) initially, if total money with Baban was ₹23100?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 12100

Rakesh’s share = x, Shivam = 23100 − x.

x(1.10)9=(23100−x)(1.10)8

x(1.10) = 23100 − x

x = 11000

Shivam’s share = 23100 − 11000 = ₹12,100
