Area of a trapezium is 480 cm2. The length of one of the parallel sides is 24 cm and the distance between the parallel sides is 8 cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.
Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: A
Explanation
The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 96 cm
One of the parallel sides = 24 cm
Let the length of the other parallel sides be 'x' cm
Also, the area of the trapezium = 480 cm²
Distance between the parallel sides = 8 cm
So , Area of a trapezium = 1/2(a + b) × h
∴ 480 = 1/2 × (24 + x) × 8
⇒ 480 = 96 + 4x
480 - 96 = 4x
⇒ 4x = 384
⇒ x = 384/4 = 96 cm
