Amit saves 20% of his income. If his income is  increases by 38% and expenditure increases by 60%, then by what per cent does his saving increase/decrease?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 50% (decrease)

Assume income = ₹100
Saving = 20% = ₹20
Expenditure = ₹80

Now:

Income increases 38% , so  New income = ₹138

Expenditure increases  60% , so  New expenditure = ₹128

New saving = ₹138 – ₹128 = ₹10

% change = 10−2020×100=−1020×100=−50%\frac{10 - 20}{20} \times 100 = \frac{-10}{20} \times 100 = -50\% (decrease)
