Aman has appeared in two exams. He scored 420 marks in the first exam out of 600 marks. If he got an overall 70 percent mark, then how much percentage did he score in the second examination out of 500?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 70.

Aman has appeared in two exams, and his overall percentage is 70%.

The total possible marks from both exams = 600 + 500 = 1100 marks

Total marks required = 70% × 1100

⇒ 70/100 × 1100 = 770 marks

Aman scored 420 marks in the first exam

Marks in second exam = 770 − 420 = 350

Now,

Required% = Marks in second exam/Total marks in second exam × 100

⇒ 350/500 × 100 = 70%
