We know that:

In a regular hexagon, there are 6 equilateral triangles.

 

As shown in the figure:

Area of triangle AEC = 3 × Area of triangle AOE

And

Area of triangle AOE = Area of triangle AEF

Now,

Area of triangle AEC = 3 × Area of triangle AEF

So,

Area of triangle AEC : Area of triangle AEF = 3 : 1
