SSC CGL 2018 PYQ — Question 66

SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 19/02/2018 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q66

ABCD is a rectangle. P is a point on the side AB as shown in the figure. If DP = 13, CP = 10, and BP = 6, then what is the value of (AP2 + BC)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. √105.

DP = 13, CP = 10 and BP = 6

So,

BC = √(102 - 62) = 8 cm

Let AP = a cm

In △ADP

AD2 + AP2 = DP2

⇒ 64 + a2 = 169

⇒ a2 = 105

⇒ a = √105

Value of (AP2 + BC) = (√105)2 + 8

⇒ 105 + 8 = 113
