Δ ABC is a right - angle triangle at B. If tan A = 5/12, then sin A + sin B + sin C will be equal to:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 24132{{4} \over 13}.

In a right-angled triangle, tan⁡θ=perpendicularbase\tan\theta = {perpendicular \over base}

sin⁡θ=perpendicularhypotenuse\sin\theta = {perpendicular\over hypotenuse}

In triangle ABC, BC = 5, AC = 12, then using Pythagoras theorem, AB = 13.

Now, sinA = BCABBC \over AB  = 5135 \over 13     ...(i)

sinB = ACAB=1213{AC \over AB} = {12 \over 13}    ...(ii)

sinC = sin90° = 1     ...(iii)

Now, adding equations (i), (ii) and (iii), we get

sinA + sinB + sinC = 513+1213+1{5 \over 13} + {12 \over 13} + 1

⇒ sinA + sinB + sinC = (5+12+13)13(5 + 12 + 13) \over 13 = 301330 \over 13 = 24132 \frac{4}{13}

Hence the value of sinA + sinB + sinC is 24132 \frac{4}{13} .
