SSC CGL 2022 PYQ — Question 73

SSC CGL - 05 Dec 2022 - Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q73

A varies directly as the positive square root of B, and inversely as the cube of C. If A = 15, when B = 27 and C = 2, then find B when A = 9 and C = 2.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 243/25.

Given:

A = 15 when B = 27 and C = 2

Also A = k1Bk _1\sqrt{B} and A = k2C3k_2 \over C^3

Where k1 and k2 are proportionality constants.

Explanation:

From the given question,

⇒ 15 = k127k _1\sqrt{27}

⇒ k1 = 153315 \over 3 \sqrt{3}

⇒ k1 = 535 \over \sqrt{3}

Now, when A = 9

Then 9 = 535 \over \sqrt{3} × B\sqrt{B}

⇒ B\sqrt{B} = 9359 \sqrt{3} \over 5

Squaring both sides we get

B = 243/25

Hence the value of B = 243/25
