SSC Selection Post 2025 PYQ — Question 35

SSC Selection Post - Matriculation Level - 1st August 2025 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q35

A student got 30% marks and failed by 13 marks and another student got 44% marks and gets 15 more than the passing marks. Find the maximum mark in a certain examination?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

Let the maximum marks for the exam be x.

Let the passing marks be P.

For the first student,

30x/100 = P − 13

For the second student,

44x/100 = P + 15

Taking the difference between the two equations,

44x/100 − 30x/100 = 15 + 13

14x/100 = 28

14x = 2800

x = 200
