A solid rectangular block of metal of dimensions 88 cm × 21 cm × 21 cm is melted to form a solid sphere. What is its radius (in cm)?

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 21.

Volume of a sphere = (4/3)πr3 where r is the radius

So, 

(4/3)πr3 = 88 × 21 × 21

⇒ (4/3) × (22/7) × r3 = 88 × 21 × 21

⇒ r3 = 21 × 21 × 21

⇒ r = 21

Therefore, the radius of the solid sphere is 21 cm.
