Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 18.

Given that, MP = ₹2,000

SP = MP × 100−D100{100 - D}\over 100

According to the given question,

SP in first option = 2000×(100−10)100×(100−10)100×(100−10)1002000 \times {(100 - 10)\over 100} \times {(100 - 10) \over 100} \times {(100 - 10)\over 100}

⇒ 2000×90100×90100×901002000 \times {90\over 100} \times {90 \over 100} \times {90\over 100}

⇒ 1458

And, SP in second option = 2000×(100−28)1002000 \times {(100 - 28)\over 100}

⇒ 2000×721002000 \times {72\over 100}

⇒ 1440

Now, required difference = 1458 - 1440 = 18

Hence the difference between the two options of discounts (in rupees) is 18.
