Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 39.51%.

Let the marked price of goods be Rs. 100.

Discount = 18%

Profit 30%

Selling price, SP=MP×(100−D)100SP = {{MP \times {(100 - D)\over 100}}}

⇒ SP=100×(100−18)100SP = {{100 \times {(100 - 18)\over 100}}}

⇒ 100×82100 {{100 \times {82\over 100}}} = Rs. 82

Now, CP=SP×100(100+P)CP = {{ SP \times {100 \over (100 + P)}}}

⇒ 82×100130{{ 82 \times {100 \over 130}}} = Rs. 63.08

Now, new discount on marked price = 12%

So, SP=100×(100−12)100SP = {{100 \times {(100 - 12)\over 100}}}

⇒ 100×88100{{100 \times {88\over 100}}} = Rs. 88

Profit = SP - CP

⇒ 88 - 63.08 = Rs. 24.92

Profit percentage = PCP×100{P \over CP} \times 100

⇒ 24.9263.08×100{24.92 \over 63.08} \times 100 = 39.5053 ≈ 39.51%

Hence the profit percentage is 39.51%.
