A shopkeeper gives a 12% additional discount on the discounted price, after giving an initial discount of 25% on the labelled price of a radio. If the final selling price of the radio is ₹792, then what is its labelled price (in ₹)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 1200.

Let the labelled price of the radio be ₹x.

Given that, two discounts are 12% and 25%.

Selling price of radio = ₹792

SP=MP×100−D1100×100−D2100SP = MP \times {{100 - D_1} \over 100} \times {{100- D_2} \over 100}

According to the given question,

792=x×100−12100×100−25100792 = x \times {{100 - 12} \over 100} \times {{100 - 25} \over 100}

⇒ 792=x×88100×75100792 = x \times {88 \over 100} \times {75 \over 100}

⇒ x = 1200

Hence the labelled price of the radio is 1200.
