A sector has a central angle of 120° and a radius of 9 cm. Another sector of the same circle has a central angle of 3π5\frac{3\pi}{5} radians. What is the ratio of the area of the first sector to the area of the second sector?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 10 : 9.

Area if sector = θ360×πr2\frac{\theta}{360} \times \pi r^2

Area of first sector = 120360×π×92\frac{120}{360} \times \pi \times 9^2 = 27π27\pi

Central angle of second sector = 3π5\frac{3\pi}{5} = 108°

Area of second sector = 10360×π×92\frac{10}{360} \times \pi \times 9^2 = 24.3π24.3\pi

Required ratio = 27 : 24.3

⇒ 270 : 243 = 10 : 9
