A right hexagonal prism has a base edge of 5.5 cm and a height of 12 cm. The lateral faces are all painted. If the cost of painting is ₹22.5 per cm², find the total painting cost. Use √3 = 1.732 where needed.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

Given:

Base edge = 5.5 cm

Height = 12 cm

Painting cost = ₹22.5 per square cm

Formula:

Lateral surface area of a right-angled hexagonal prism = Perimeter of base × Height

Perimeter of a regular hexagon = 6a

Perimeter = 6 × 5.5 = 33 cm

Lateral surface area = 33 × 12 = 396 square cm

Total painting cost = 396 × 22.5 = ₹8,910
